We Were Made To Declare The Praises of God

“You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him, who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. Once you were not a people but now you are the people of God; once You had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” – 1 Peter 2:9-10

It’s amazing to think that God has chosen us. Before we were born God had set us apart to be His special possession, so that we may declare the praises of God. We were born to worship God! When we worship Him we soon realise that this is what we were made to do!

God’s heart has always been towards us. He reached out to us when we were in darkness and away from God, and brought us back into His wonderful light and life.

God showed us mercy, rescued us, totally forgave us and made us. We are His sons and daughters. Being God’s own special possession makes it possible for us to come to him with total boldness and confidence, without shame. In return, we must marvel in the mercy God has shown us.

He loves our worship. God is thrilled to see us delight in Him. And searches the earth to find people who will worship Him in Spirit and truth.

As worship musicians and singers we are not called just to be players but to be priests! As modern day Levites, we have been given the responsibility for the music in Church and are called to minister before God with our worship and playing of instruments. To minister means to serve and our worship must be with the heart of a servant and a revelation that we are not just priests, but Royal priests. What an incredible calling!

In Revelation 5:9-10 we read:

You were slain and with your blood you purchased for God, people from every tribe and language & people and nation You have made them to be a kingdom of priests and they will reign in the earth.

Now we have become a people
A kingdom of priests
A holy nation of worshippers

So Let’s take our place as royal priests, to serve God with all our hearts, minds and strength. Holding nothing back. Doing what we were born to do: ‘Declaring the Praises of God!’
